Week 39

We had a great week this week!  Although it's our last week to submit learning logs for MyTechHigh, we'll still be doing some school for a bit. For school, Eli, Ivy and Emmitt all worked on their math books.  We also played some fun math games.  Tenzi is a new game the kids all really like!  They have had a lot of fun playing it together.  We also continued with musical multiplication. Eli worked on his language arts books a lot this week and is getting into writing stories.  He wrote a couple of paragraphs on family meal time.  He had to write it a few times since the first time he really went off topic (he likes to be super funny and sometimes he get really off topic just to get a laugh.  I want to support creativity but I also like him to focus on the topic at hand).  He also read some short stories, worked on his handwriting and did his vocab. Ivy worked on her her reading lessons, her handwriting, did her dictation and wrote a coup...

Week 38

Our week began in Arizona as we ended our trip.  We went boating on Monday and had a great time! It was Eli's first time knee boarding and he got up a couple times and loved it.  Ivy and Eli both went tubing and Emmitt jumped in the water a couple of times.  It was a little overcast that day and had a bit of a chill in the air, but everyone still enjoyed it. We had a short week due to getting home at 5am Tuesday morning, but still managed to get some school in over the rest of the week. Eli worked on a couple of language arts lessons and also his math.  He's working right now on saying larger numbers like 5,789,123 and also division and multiplication.  He also worked on his handwriting and typing which is improving. Ivy worked on her reading lessons and handwriting.  In her math, she's writing larger numbers like 924 and is also working with measuring things (in inches) and figuring out the perimeter.   Emmitt finished up hi...

Eli's math is coming along great!  He has 12 lessons to go in his math book and his doing great!  He already knows multiplication but the musical multiplication program I got for him is really helping him get to where he can say the answers faster.  He wrote quite a few stories this week and did really well.  He's still reading "A Yard for John" with me... we're progressing slower then I'd like, but hopefully this week or next he'll be done. Ivy got a couple of math lessons done and is also progressing well with musical multiplication.  She has 5 more lessons in her Reading Lessons so hopefully we can wrap up this book in the next 2 weeks.  She did a lot more dictation this week which is so good for her confidence! She's mainly done copywork in the past but dictation is really good for her to practice her spelling.   Emmitt has one lesson left in his language arts.  He's also been doing the musical multiplication with his siblings (h...
