Week 27

It has been a terrific week!  We finished out the third semester of our Commonwealth on Friday.  Eli and Ivy finished up with their Love Language class and their "Great Brain" units!  What wonderful classes.  Now I've got to go dig through their folders so I can find out what each of their own love language :).

Emmitt, Erik and I finished out our art class and science class.  This week we reviewed thunder and lightning.  The teacher read a cute book called Thunder Cake and then she brought Thunder cake to class for us to eat :).  It was also my 40th birthday on Friday (wow... I cannot believe I'm 4-0!!!)!!!

We came home from class and I vegged out in my room and napped with the baby while the kids played and made me a birthday cake with Dirk's help!  Later, Dirk and I went out on a date while our good friend watched ALL of our kids (including Zeke...woot woot)!

Math - Eli and Ivy both did their math work for this week.  Not much to report there... I'll give a bigger update next week.  Emmitt did a bit of math also, although not much (only 1 lesson).

Language Arts - Eli worked on Lesson 3,4 and 5 of his new LA book.  Ivy worked on her reading Lesson and her All About Reading book.  They both did their handwriting!

History - More Columbus this week and we also memorized a poem about Columbus.  We'll have to get the second half a little stronger this week.  The first half goes - (I have to go look it up... whoops... I already forgot it...eek)!

Tech - This week was on lighting and illumination.  The kids made little boxes with see through fish that they crumpled up and put into a box with a cover and then hung it on the window.  They looked through glasses as they spin a circle thing and it changes the color of the glasses.

PE - This week we got out a lot taking care of the animals, shooting basketball hoops outside and lots of play.  We had a couple of warmer days so that was really nice considering it's been so cold!!!

We also organized our upstairs bonus room where we've begun to meet every morning for devotional!  It's been working out fabulously!  I'll post pictures on here! :).

Overall, a terrific week and next week will be even better!!!

Love, Maria!
