Week 17
We've had a great week this week!
We got all of our Christmas books out and now have our Christmas book basket by the Christmas tree. During read aloud time, we go sit in the living room and everyone picks out a Christmas book to readπ.
Another favorite tradition we have is doing our 12 Days of Christmas. We pick two families and then every day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas, we drop off a gift at their door after dark and run! Thankfully Eli is willing to do most of the running! Ivy and Emmitt are still a little nervous to run and hide. Dirk ran with Eli the first night and I get out of the van and wait for him, but he usually runs to the door. For these 12 days of Christmas, we write a different name for the Savior along with a scripture verse that references that name and then some type of gift to represent it. So, for example, tonight we dropped off candles and we wrote "The Light. John 8:12"
Anyway, as for core stuff...
Math ÷ - Eli worked on his Living Math and is on lesson 15. He's working on division and multiplication. Ivy is working on her living math and has been working on odd and even numbers and also mastering her basic addition problems. Emmitt is working on numbers 1-10 and doing copywork.
Language Artsπ - Eli has dived into his new language Arts book. He's been doing dictation, and writing sentences practicing using comma's. He's also working on cursive and is taking a typing course on the computer. It's Mavis Beacom typing course and it's super fun! Ivy is on lesson 28 in her All About Reading course. I'm practically positive she deals with some dyslexia as she writes so many things backwards and it is so hard for her to remember what we've worked on. Anyway, she's moving along and picking things up. She worked on her handwriting this week and wrote a couple of letters to some of her friends. Emmitt worked on his lessons and practiced some new words HIT and SIT along with some vowel games.
History π - This week we studied Lewis & Clark again at the Commonwealth. Eli, Ivy and Emmitt were all there and all participated which was fun. We made flap books and listened to a 15 minute audio on the Lewis & Clark's journey westward. It was our last lesson of our 6 week course.
PE π- We've been getting up every morning and going to our church gym to walk laps and play basketball. Gym was cancelled this week so we didn't go to that.
Tech π» - This week, all of us worked on Ivy and Emmitt's Kiwi Crates and Erik's Koala Crate. For Erik, we made a couple of musical instruments and Ivy and Emmitt made some inch worms using hydraulics. Eli helped everyone with their projects and was super helpful! I forgot to take pictures of most things this week, but we still have a lot of fun working on these.
Here are a few fun Christmas pictures we took with Zeke dressed up in his Elf outfit πππ!
