Weeks 14 & 15

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  We hosted all of my family which included over 40 people!!!  It was a wonderful time visiting, playing and eating delicious food!  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday simply because it involves lots of family and lots of food lol!  My grandma Starshine flew in from Montana... she turned 90 this summer!  Also, my little sister Lana has been sober for 9 months and it was so wonderful to catch up with her.  The kids had fun playing outside and in the basement with their cousins.  Ivy made up some skits with her cousins, which was fun!

We managed to get in a couple of days of school during Thanksgiving week and then we got a few days in the following week as well, although sickness has hit us pretty hard so the last couple of days have been very laid back!

Language Arts - Eli worked on his Writing & Rhetoric book this week.  He wrote a fun story titled "The Mouse and the Fly."  It was a spin off of "The Lion and the Mouse."  It was very creative and a positive story (which I love).  Ivy worked on her All About Reading and got through lesson 25.  She's been doing so well up until this last lesson... I think it's really challenging her and making it more difficult.  We will keep going though.  I'm going to have her keep reading from the first book "Run Bug Run" to boost her confidence in her reading ability, then we can move on to the next, more advanced book.  Emmitt did a lot of letter practice in his Kindergarten book along with picture and letter finds (which he really enjoys).

Math - Eli worked a little on his math this week.  We are now to about the middle of his book and have started on multiplication.  He grasps it really well so it'll be fun to move forward.  Ivy worked on word problems this week, which she grasped really well.  She made up a few word problems also and then she worked on her basic addition sheet.  Emmitt just played UNO this week for his numbers practice.

History - We didn't have our Commonwealth last week or this week, which is usually a lot of our history lesson.  This week we read Leif The Lucky, which is a cute historical book of Leif Erikson's discovery of America.  He was the son of Erik the Red.  We are going to start our Early American History timeline on our wall so hopefully I'll have a picture to share on my next post.  The kids really liked the learning about Leif and his journeys.

PE - Gym was great last week!  WE didn't go this week though since some of us were starting to feel sick.  We also went swimming last week and the kids had lots of outside play time with their cousins.
