Week 12
This week turned out to be a little short and pretty busy!! I got home from San Antonio late Monday so we didn't get much done that day as far as school goes. Then, Tuesday was Ivy's birthday so it was pretty relaxed...we played games, read books and went to gym class. Friday was our commonwealth and then we had Ivy's party at GJ Gym (LOL...we like that place). Anyway, it was a great week, but I'll look forward to getting back to schedule next week ;).
Math - Eli worked on his math book doing some basic financial math equations. He and Ivy and I all did math games and logic problems this week. Definitely something I want to continue working on as they didn't catch on very easily. Emmitt did a couple of math puzzles with me too and did math on Starfall.
Language Arts - Ivy worked on her All About Reading this week and finished through lesson 24. She also practiced and practiced a little talk that she gave at her church! She read the whole thing by herself which was awesome!! Eli did his handwriting, dictation and narration this week with me. He also listened to his audiobook a lot this week - he's listening to Little House in the Big Woods, which we are also reading out loud as a family. Emmitt worked on his letters and we started the new letter of "F" this past week. He does a very good job of holding the pencil and can write well when he wants to.
History - Eli, Ivy and Emmitt and I all finished "The Courage of Sarah Noble" this week and had a discussion on it. It was a really sweet book that was very uplifting and noble. It's based on a true story of a young girl who goes with her dad to cook for him while he builds their family a home in the wilderness. They make friends with some nearby Indians and Sarah ends up living with them while the dad goes to get the rest of the family. She always says to herself "Keep up your courage, Sarah Noble."
Eli, Ivy and Emmitt all were a part of my class on Lewis & Clark again this week. We studied the attributes of Lewis & Clark and those who joined them on the Corps of Discovery. We worked on cartography and navigation a little.
Tech - All the kids carved more boxes and planes again this week, but that's all. With the short week, we missed out on doing much Tech. Eli did learn what a hard drive, mother board and some other terms mean when he took apart an old lap top computer. They all got new Kiwi and Tinker Crates this week so we'll start on those this next week.
Here's a couple pictures of Zeke and I that I thought I'd post too since we do a lot of the helping and watching with school ;).
PE - We had a good time at gym this week. The kids had fun and my body ached lol!!
Eli also took care of my parents rabbits this week along their fodder. He had to go every morning about 9 and each evening about 4-5. I went with most days, just for fun! On Saturday, I could tell my dad was worried about the babies that one of the mama's had just delivered. So we pulled the box out and looked inside. There were 10 baby bunnies bouncing around!!! It was so fun to see them all healthy. She looks like a good mama!!
