Week 11

History - This week for history, we started reading the book "The Courage of Sarah Noble."  Eli and Ivy also attended two classes at their commonwealth and both were history related.  The first was on Lewis & Clark.  My mom actually taught the class for me since I went to San Antonio, woot woot!  They went over why Thomas Jefferson wanted the expedition in the first place and then they talked about botany, since that was a big part of the Corps of Discovery.  They looked at various leaves and reviewed what the difference were, etc.  The other class was reading Little House in the Big Woods and then doing some activities that related back to that time period.

Math - Eli worked on adding business numbers.  He started a little book store and priced the book.  Then, I came and purchased books from him so he'd have to give me a total and then give me change once I gave him money.  It was pretty informal, but fun.  He worked on adding money numbers in his math book as well.  Ivy practiced counting higher numbers and writing them out.  We also played UNO which is kind of a fun math game (adds a little bit of logic and strategy into it as well).  Emmitt played UNO with us also, which is good for him to practice his lower numbers.  He also worked on numbers 11, 12 and 13.

Language Arts Eli  worked on another narrative for The Lion and the Mouse.  We read the story and then he had to retell it a few times and we   the moral of the story.  He also worked on handwriting and dictation and continued reading The Little Prince.  Ivy  did her All About Reading lessons.  I think she's on lesson 23 or 24.  She's mastering the "SH" and "CH" sound.  Emmitt practiced his vowels more and sounds of other letters.  He worked on the words "CAT", "AT" and "HAT."

TECH - Eli, Ivy and Emmitt made a big house structure out of cardboard.  The used popsicle sticks and duck tape along with a couple of bandanas.

PE - We did gym this week and it was good!  Eli worked on his backhandspring, Ivy worked on spinning around the bar and Emmitt and Erik just played.
