week 8
Ivy told me this week all she wants to learn is reading, writing and swimming π♀️. I’ll do my best to sneak in the rest π!
Math
Eli worked on subtracting large numbers this week and did really well. Ivy practiced writing her numbers 1-50. Emmitt practiced counting 1-15 ✅.
Language Arts-
Eli continued with his handwriting and did lots of dictation. He's practicing / reviewing making different words plural. He does really good, but still struggles a bit with words that have the "y" ending. He also finished listening to "Indian in the Cupboard," which he loved. Ivy continued her All About Reading and finished lesson 17 ✅! Seriously, the Tracker sheet where she gets to put a sticker after each lesson is more effective then I would’ve thought!! She also did her handwriting. Emmitt worked on vowels and letters T, H and G. He’s getting more familiar with his letters which is exciting to see. The kids also all watched Signing Time and practiced some sign language. We all read a lot this week and continued with the Happy Hollisters River Trip book (my kids’ new favorite series).
History-
Eli and I did some discussion on World War II. It was really hard for Eli to grasp that the USA πΊπΈ didn’t want to get into the war initially when there were such evil men doing evil. I’m hoping he can begin to understand that it’s not always our job to save everyone (he thinks it’s his job, which can be real struggle with siblings ☄️. Eli, Ivy and Emmitt all did more music history this week and we focused on Beethoven and the Classical Era. We learned about his life and listened to his music.
Gym-
Gym was great this week! Ivy is extremely flexible and points her toes well. Eli is really good at lifting his legs and arms during back bends, which is much harder then you’d think. Emmitt is fast, quick and brave π³!
Ivy and Emmitt started swim lessons this week. Their instructor Donna is so encouraging and uplifting!! I feel inspired by her. They are really good in the water and ivy is pretty much able to swim already. Emmitt is super close! They both can go under the water now without holding their nose π!
Tech-
Ivy and Emmitt made little lanterns and solar systems π from their Kiwi Crates. Ivy has gotten good at taking directions from listening to me and I’m trying to make sure they look at the pictures to review the directions instead of me telling them each step (which I still do plenty). They all turned out so cool! Eli helped oversee it all and helped out with some of the building. We’ll do his tinker crate next week.
Eli turned 10 this week!!! He is such a great kid!!! He got a hover board and all the kids love it!!! Thankfully Eli gives them all turns. We love this boy of ours!!!
