Week 5

Math:
Eli continued doing his math review.  He's adding and subtracting large and small numbers, practicing tally marks and adding and subtracting multiple numbers.  Ivy is doing math review as well, including place value's, writing her numbers and identifying the differences in the sides of shapes.  Emmitt has been practicing counting up to 20 and identifying numbers 1-20.

Language Arts:
Eli continued his cursive handwriting practice this week.  He also worked on reading and Narration.  He's ready a story titled Sarah, Plain and Tall.  Ivy has continued on her All About Reading as well as doing her Handwriting.  Her reading is coming along although I'm hoping to get her reading more on her own.  She really likes to read more in the evening so I'm wanting to focus on that time.  Emmitt is continuing with learning his letter sounds.

HISTORY:
Eli learned about Louis Pastour and bacteria growth in his Commonwealth this week.  They took cultures of many different things (swiped various surfaces) and will watch and see how the bacteria grows.  Eli, Ivy and Emmitt all learned about Handel who lived during the Baroque period in history.

PE:
Gym was great this week!  Eli really wanted to get his back handspring and wouldn't stop trying until he was completed exhausted!  He's basically got it, just needs to get his landing a little better. Ivy worked on spinning on the bar (not sure what it's called) and she absolutely loved it!  One of her coaches, Kayshia, really worked with her. Emmitt practiced tricks on the trampoline and got his handstand forward roll down pretty good.

This week was great in our Commonwealth!  Eli got to make Elephant Toothpaste along with his bacteria class as mentioned above.  He also learned about compasses and got a little better grasp about how to use them.  He also learned how to start a fire with a magnifying glass.

Emmitt and Ivy practiced a lot of fun songs in their Commonwealth class and did lots of drawing and coloring.
